Educational Facilities
prezentare
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) presents innovative school designs, mostly from the United States, as selected from entries submitted for its recent competition. A jury awarded 24 prizes from the 1999-2000 submissions and chose another 75 entries for inclusion here. The project plans cover early childhood learning environments, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, alternative schools, innovative learning environments, two-year technical or community colleges, and multipurpose schools. Each design is limited to two pages, including a brief architect's statement, builders' credits, and uncaptioned graphics. While the publication quality is high, some projects include neither site plan nor labeled floor plan, leaving the reader without the information to comprehend every building. Michael J. Crosbie's recent Class Architecture, on the same topic with a helpful introduction and up to four pages per school, is a better choice.
